LYMAN HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
Today was the day Carter & Naomi graduated and it was incredible! Carter, Naomi, Emily and I arrived at the CFE Arena at 7:15. They had to be there at 7:30 and I wanted to be the first in line (sadly I was 2nd in line *wink*). I was able to get the seats I wanted in the first available row with Peter, Andrew & Emily and Poppy & Nana were able to get seats at the top of the section for themselves, John, Gerry, Uncle Lance and Aunt Carol (none of them could do the stairs to the first row and understood I wanted to sit as close as possible for pictures). Graduation was incredible, wait I already said that! LOL Afterwards I was in charge of finding Carter & Naomi so we could take pictures and the folks could head out. Peter drove Poppy & Nana back to their hotel, John drove Gerry, Lance and Carol to my house and I waited with the kids while the graduates took their requisite friend photos. Back at the house we ordered Jimmy Johns delivery and afterwards I drove Gerry home and Lance & Carol to their hotel for a much needed nap. I laid down and tried to nap but was too wound from all of the excitement plus I knew I had a house to decorate for the evening celebration. Around 5:00 I gave up on napping and got up and started filling balloons with helium and making balloon bouquets. Everyone arrived at 7:00 and I think (said humbly) the house looked good. Unfortunately Carter & Naomi’s friends were all off celebrating with their family but Andrew was able to invite Maya for the celebration. We ordered Chinese and sat back and just enjoyed each others company. After dinner we cut the beautiful cake from Publix and opened presents. Around 10:00 our guests all left and around 10:01 I collapsed in bed although that respite was cut short when I remembered that Naomi’s iPhone screen had shattered and I promised to install the new one. Fast forward to 11:30 and then I collapsed!
Cute Story (in a had to be there kind of way): On the way home from graduation we were all starving and dying of thirst so we decided to hit the closest 7-Eleven for a slurpee treat. I had asked Emily and Naomi what they wanted (they stayed in the car with the AC running) while Carter and I went inside. The orders were Pina Colada first, Coke second. They didn’t have any of those flavors so I went to tell Emily and Naomi they had banana or Watermelon with lime. They chose banana. Once back inside, Carter discovered that there was Coke but it had a “still chilling” sign on it. I tested it, since the red “do not use” light wasn’t on and it seemed fine. Thinking Naomi would be excited about Coke over banana, I got 3 Cokes and 1 banana. Back in the car the twins were complaining that it tasted like burnt plastic. I’ll admit it wasn’t great but it wasn’t that bad. They immediately stopped drinking theirs. I got about halfway through mine when all of the sudden I burped and it was 100% the taste of burnt plastic. This revelation of mine caused mass laughter by the kids. Now we are left wondering —- what was really in that slurpee! LOL
