Second FET Cycle

Cycle day 10

I had my preliminary test today. Dr. Riggall wanted to do a PAP smear (since I’ve been lazy about having one done) and a hysteroscopy with saline to check the inside of my uterus. I remember him doing one last year that was a piece of cake but I’ve heard some horrible stories. I was fine with the procedure until last Friday when the nurse called to remind me to take Aleve an hour before coming. GREAT! They only tell you that when it’s going to be painful. Well, I got all worried for nothing because the test was again nothing. He did the PAP smear first and it was more uncomfortable than the hysteroscopy. I also requested that he draw a CBC to check my white count and platelets. I want to dot all of my I’s and cross all of my T’s. With me having the bad infection and appendecitis before my last miscarriage, don’t want to take any chances – especially since I’ve been so sick recently.

Our tentative schedule is to come in for u/s and bloodwork on April 22nd. Hopefully I will get my period the next day and will begin Estrace. Ten days later I should begin Progesterone and around the 8th have my transfer. If all goes as planned then the beta will be May 17th – just in time for John’s birthday. The embryos are frozen in two vials of three but I think John and I have decided just to thaw all six and put the best back. I hope that’s the right decision. Wish us luck. We haven’t told anyone but my closests friends and the girls on the bulletin board. Oh and my dad and sister. Everyone else we’re hoping to surprise with a positive beta test!

Sorry for the huge gap – I lost my diary of events and am having to recreate it based on memory (yikes)

TRANSFER

As most of you know, we are in the middle of a frozen IVF cycle in hopes of having another child. Today was our transfer and we transferred 3 beautiful embryos (4, 5 and 6 cells). The thaw was a little disappointing as we started with 6 embryos but the first 3 didn’t survive. Now starts the long wait to see if it works. Keep us in your thoughts for the next two weeks (and hopefully months!)!!!!

I’m Pregnant again!

What a great party! All the graduating pre-K classes had a pool party and I don’t have to tell you we all had a blast! I was one of the chaperoning moms and other than the water being cold, I had a great time too! I don’t have to tell you that I was on pins and needles waiting for my doctor to call with the pregnancy results! I finally called at 1:00 and the news were better than perfect – I’M PREGNANT! Anything over a 5 is considered pregnant and my number came back at 95! We wait 2 more days and then retest. Hopefully the numbers will double which indicates a good strong pregnancy!

We had an amazing dinner. We’re telling everyone that will listen that we’re pregnant so we went out to celebrate. While sitting at the table, Kristi and I were talking on the phone. She heard the server come up and demand that I put the server on the phone. I did and within a minute the server told me congratulations on my pregnancy. Within 5 or 10 minutes a different server came up and put a balloon on my wrist and congratulated. Then throughout the meal a different server would come and tie a balloon on my wrist and congratulate me also. It was an almost constant stream of servers and balloons and I was loving every moment of it!

Carter Story: I was in the lobby of the school telling some mothers who were waiting on my results when Carter came up. I told him that he was going to be a big brother again and he asked me to lean over so he could whisper something in my ear. When I leaned over he said “but mom, isn’t your belly supposed to be bigger?” I said it will happen all too soon! LOL
