One of my best online friends, Tracey Offutt, passed away this morning. She was only 32 years old and leaves behind her husband, 5 year old daughter Ava and 3 year old Son Joey. Tracey and I have been friends for years as we were both part of an amazing online group of women that battled infertility. I was also blessed to meet Tracey on two occasions. The first time in Maryland when we attended Nancy’s baby shower (another online friend) and the second time was when the children and I went to Washington DC. We made a side trip to Maryland to meet up with Tracey, Juliet and Nancy. While the bulk of our friendship was online, I considered her a dear friend.
Jason, her husband, found her on the kitchen floor this morning and she was already gone. I don’t know that we will ever truly know what happened but it is believed that her new medication was to blame. Regardless of what happened, I can’t believe my friend is gone. She posted daily updates on Facebook and just as recently as this week, she posted pictures of Ava starting kindergarten and Joey starting preschool. All I can think about is how much she struggled to get pregnant with her babies and now she will miss seeing them grow up. I also can’t stop thinking about how little Joey will never remember how wonderful his mother was.
Tracey will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her!
