I knew that Andrew and Emily would wake up excitedly this morning but I didn’t realize just how excited they would be. I went into Emily’s room and sat on her bed. I gently touched her arm and she shot up saying “I know, it’s the first day of 1st grade, I’m gonna get dressed”. She did just that ~ jumped up and got dressed.
Emily and Andrew had a wonderful first day. Andrew wouldn’t give any details other than to say it was a great day. Emily gave a blow by blow of her day which was a delightful treat (she’s normally as silent as Andrew). She told a wonderful story about how Ms. Johnson has a special lockbox and she had these dolls that were crafted to look like the children. She made a big deal of assigning each child in the classroom a doll and then she put them in the lockbox telling the children she was going to protect them from harm. I thought it was so sweet of her.
Andrew had a little bit of homework that he eagerly did without any promptly (hey there has to be a first time for everything). Turns out I had more homework than anyone with all of the new year paperwork the school requires.
P.S. It was so hot and humid this morning my good camera fogged up and wouldn’t unfog in time to take pictures. I was able to get some pictures with my iPhone but they aren’t as good quality as they could have been. 🙁
