Open house at the middle school

Carter & Naomi: 12 years old

We had middle school open house today.  I felt horrible for the principal – everything was a mess.  We went to get the schedules and they had Nathan’s schedule but not Carter’s.  John and Nathan went on to visit his classes while Carter and I went to the office to get his schedule.  At first the principal couldn’t find his schedule so she suggested that we do rounds with Nathan.  She said they wouldn’t have the same classes but some of the teachers would be the same.  Unfortunately, I got out of line and realized that I didn’t know where Nathan’s first class was so I got back in line to get Nathan’s schedule.  Someone else helped us and they were able to find Carter’s schedule but said they couldn’t give it to us because the schedule might have been pulled due to shot records so we had to go somewhere else to get a note saying they had his shot records.  We finally got Carter’s schedule and headed off to his second period class (we had already missed first period).  Everything was a complete mess and the principal told us that they had 100 new students register this year and they were severely under staffed.  While we were in the office 5 more students tried to register.  We were told that most of the schedules were messed up and would be changing once they got the classrooms straightened out.  I really feel sorry for the teachers come Monday when hundreds of confused students descend on the school.
