Living history museum

Carter & Naomi: 11 years old
Andrew: 9 years old
Marshall: 5 years old

One of the many things that I love about our elementary school is how they make learning fun and today was no exception.  The 5th grade was asked to take a person from colonial times and bring them to life.  Carter chose James Geddy, Jr. who was a silversmith and Nathan chose Peyton Randolph who served as speaker of the Virginia House of Burgesses.  Not only were they asked to dress as their chosen person, they were also asked to create a shoebox representing their person.  Carter did a silversmith’s workshop and Nathan did the House of Burgesses.  All of the 5th graders gathered in the multipurpose room at school and presented their living history museum to all of the students in the school.  Not only was it a good learning experience for the 5th graders but it was also a learning opportunity for other students in the school.
