The bus stop is a little far from our apartment so I drove Emily and Andrew as I normally do and we waited in the car for a few minutes before Andrew said he was ready to walk on over. We got out and walked to the bus stop and stood there for a few minutes. One of Emily’s friends came up shortly after us and they started talking and kidding around. Then Emily looks up at me and said “Mom, you can go ahead and leave”. I asked if she was sure, kissed her good-bye and walked across the street to watch until the bus came. She then yells across the street “Mom, you can leave” to which all of the parents started laughing. I then went over next to some bushes to stand and watch. I look over at Emily and she has her hand on her hip, hip cocked out and she yells again “Mom! Leave!” I couldn’t stop laughing all the way to the car. I can’t imagine where she gets her independence from! LOL 🙂
