Carter & Nathan had a follow-up with the pediatrician today to check their weight. Carter gained 8 oz and now weighs 5 lbs 5 oz and is 18-1/2 inches long. Nathan only gained 4 oz and now weighs 4 lbs 12 oz and is 18 inches long. They are both doing great and are perfectly healthy. The doctor is a little cautious about Nathan’s weight gain since they are supposed to gain a half a pound a week and he isn’t. He gave me some milk fortifier to add to Nathan’s breast milk to give him some extra calories. The doctor said that we shouldn’t worry but should keep an eye on it. He thinks it’s simply a matter of Nathan’s eating habits and that that will improve with time. In the meantime, while he’s learning the extra calories will help him out.
There isn’t much else to tell. We are enjoying parenthood and are quickly learning how to adapt to a life without sleep. The boys are still on a 4 hour feeding schedule which sounds great until you factor in 45 minutes to an hour per baby to feed and diaper them. But, like all new parents, we are adjusting and loving every minute of it (ok, almost every minute of it!).
